My Dog Is “chewing” Or Stretching His Penis With His Mouth. It Seems To Be Bothering Him.?

When he does this (3 times in about 2 months) he also pees uncontrollably. He is neutered & it seems like the pee just comes out, he IS NOT doing this purposely. Sometimes I’ll take him out & he doesn’t go at all. I took him to the vet, they did blood work & a urinalysis. Everything came out “great”. Has anyone ever heard of a similar experience? No one knows what I am talking about.

Just because the specific tests they did were “great” doesn’t mean he’s not got a problem. I’d give this vet one more try especially if you’ve taken your pet/s there for a while and know and are comfortable with them. I haven’t heard of what you’re talking about either but it can’t be the first case on record so someone’s got to have an answer. I hope someone on yahoo has an idea. In the meantime I would definitely NOT punish your dog when he pees doing this. Sometimes when we walk our dogs they just don’t have to go. Did your mom ever take you to the bathroom before you went somewhere and you didn’t have to go? Same process!
Good luck. I know you just want your dog to be fine and I’m sure everything will work out.

Well time for you to investigate he may have a small scratch or what not on his penis so if upon inspection you can’t see anything check for a pus or drainage from that area. Has he ever been bred? Dogs too can get std’s. My male dog once got a cockabur on the opening and it irritated him much like you describe. I made the mistake of cutting his hair around him to deter any further cockaburs and he ended up with an infection apparently the hair pulls moisture away from the opening lessing infection so don’t try to clean him up in that manner. My vet reccomended that I put a warm moist towel on him after an incident to hep relieve any itching he may be experiencing. Good luck

Mine does exactly that. I just ignore. Sometimes in the company of others it is embarassing to see it but I say nothing.
Dont worry about it. Dogs have different personality too. We humans do, don’t we?

He might have an allergy to something in your house or yard, my dog had a reaction to a certain patch of grass that grewin our yard so we had to remove it, it could also be an insect bite, foxtail, watch him and wash him down there with a warm rag

Dogs often pay attention to that area, it’s normal. If this is unusual behavior to your dog, then I would ask my vet. My little black/tan chihuahua does this often. He thinks it is his own personal chew toy. Lots of male dogs do this.

Its normal for a dog too pee but not uncontrollably. For your dog to be chewing or stretching his penis he properly washing him self.

I agree with the above poster..sounds like your pooch has a Urinary Tract infection . Mine did that one time and we took him to the vets and that what they said he had. Sometimes the test is done to early to tell…call your vet and take him back and have him retested. If they still say he’s fine..get another vet!

Sounds like a Urinary Tract infection or the possibility of Urinary “Glass”. Nobody on this forum can do a thing for you. Take the pooch to ANOTHER vet. Like human doctors, sometimes you need a second opinion. On the other hand, if the dog has JUST BEEN NEUTERED the behavior would not necessarily be unusual or an indication of any serious problem.
